Albatross D. Va No. 7161/17 Fabric
This collection consists of a piece of the original fabric from the Albatross D. Va No 7161/17, a WWI German fighter aircraft restored and exhibited by the National Air and Space Museum. The fabric is mounted, along with an image of the airplane and a brief description.
American Society of Aviation Artists Collection
The American Society of Aviation Artists collection consists of nearly 300 separate pieces of aviation art, including posters, paintings, drawings, photographs and aviation magazine covers.The ASAA collection also includes articles, sketches, newspaper clippings, correspondence, photographs, negatives and slides. Most of the material is about individual artists. A few materials are about ASAA events.
Aviation Trading Cards Collection
The collection consists of approximately 700 collectable trade cards and stamps issued by various industries, primarily the “cigarette cards” of tobacco manufacturers. The majority of the card or stamp series feature airplanes, but some series focus on famous aviators. Materials originate from the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany.
Ina Bicknell Collection
Photographs relating to aviation in this collection depict topics such as pilots, airplanes, naval ships, and military personnel around the time of World War II. The collection also contains aerial photographs of city landscapes and of the 1937 flood in southwest Ohio and Kentucky. The majority of the photographs in the collection are not dated and most are unidentified.
Vic Bilek Aviation Research Collection
The collection contains research notes, including newspaper and journal articles, handwritten notes, drawings, and photographs. The photos and notebook are predominantly Curtiss aircraft.
Garnet C. Brown Papers
Brown, a native of Springfield, was a local engineer and designer who helped pioneer several inventions in the aviation and automobile industries. His papers consist of engineering notebooks, personal and business correspondence, blueprints, photographs, original stories and poems, clippings, and a collection of printed materials reflecting his various interests and hobbies.
Clayton J. Brukner Papers
The Clayton J. Brukner Papers document the operation of an airplane manufacturing company, which was located in Troy, during the first half of the 20th century. The Collection consists of business records of the Waco Aircraft Company which was owned by Brukner, and various printed materials relating to aviation, books, journals, yearbooks, etc.
William Butler Aircraft Maintenance Collection
Robert L. Cavanagh Aviation Collection (MS-353)
The Robert L. Cavanagh Aviation Collection contains extensive research on a variety of aircraft, including detailed information on the Boeing P-12. The collection also contains a wide variety of aircraft photographs, along with negatives, slides, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and photograph albums.
